What You Need to Know about Yasmin

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Yaz is a popular birth control pill that is taken by millions of women around the world every year. As of late, Yaz has been connected with certain serious Yaz side effects and possibly life-threatening injuries. Women taking Yaz, or its generic form Ocella, have reportedly suffered gallbladder disease, blood clots, among other serious health problems. And adding to the already mounting scrutiny, the FDA has sanctioned the makers of Yaz and Yasmin for misleading television advertisements that did not properly making known to consumers regarding the health conditions the contraceptiions were meant to treat.

Mass Tort is simply civil lawsuit that encompasses a number of complainants. This action is taken against one or more corporate defendants in court. Unlike a class action where a number of people take it upon themselves to bring forth litigation collectively, in mass tort the original plaintiffs and attorneys use mass media resources to reach other possible plaintiffs that they would not ordinarily find. Those TV ads and websites wondering if you are a loved one have been effected by a particular product are the result of mass tort status.

Adult Females taking Yasmin, Yaz or Ocella to avoid getting pregnant or to treat PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) or severe acne have reportedly suffered severe injury to their health and wellness. Although not all pharmaceuticals are one-hundred percent safe, the main issue surrounding Yaz seems to be that the original commercials downplayed the health risks and side effects. This attracted users to the product that may not have taken it otherwise had they been properly informed about the risks posed by Ocella, Yasmin and Yaz.

Rain on the Roof

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

It’s the last days in June so that means only one thing. Wimbledon has hit our screens! It’s the 14 days in the year when people want to find their tennis rackets, find their tennis kits and meet the predictable rain to practice their back hand and volley. Man and Van Wimbledon is dedicated to providing the most able and value for money service ready even when SW19 occupied with tourists. Man and Vans, London’s leading light removal service, is grounded in South West London and in truth likes to help its neighbours with any light removals they might have. Man with Van Wimbledon may be too busy to take to the courts this summer but here at Man and Vans head office we’re extremely mad about Wimbledon’s new Centre Court Ceiling. Although Man and Van Wimbledon will do work in the showers, Rafael, Roger and Andy have never been too ready to face heavy rain. Thankfully this year there’ll be no need for Cliff Richards’ services as, from the 17th May, Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Association has been using its new retractable roof. Health and Safety tests on the court were directed by the names Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Tim Henman and Kim Clijsters, who revelled in an exhibition game of mixed doubles as the timely rain pummelled the roof as it shut.

Progression in Immunohistochemistry Have Lead to Improved Diagnostic Sensitivity Cancer of the Mesothelium

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Mesothelioma is a unusual and fast acting tumor for which no effective treatment is around even with the finding of many potential molecular and genetic targets. The late stages of MPM diagnosis and the long time that connects some exposures and diagnosis have made it difficult to comprehensively evaluate the role of risk factors and the resulting molecular effects.

Many hospitals are now seeing more people with mesothelioma cancer. This gives pathologists diagnosing the patient many problems, which can be separated into those encountered in making the distinction between mesothelioma and benign changes and those experienced in differentiating cancer of the mesothelium from other types of epithelial and connective tissue tumours. Immunohistochemistry plays a major role in helping to make the diagnosis, nevertheless it should be understood with due regard to the experimental setting and radiological characteristics, and understanding the extensive morphological differentiations seen in malignant mesothelioma.

Cancer of the mesothelium is a primary cancer of the serosal cavities, a basic site that is also frequently affected by metastatic disease, mostly from primary carcinomas of the lung, breast, and ovary. Progression in immunohistochemistry have resulted in improvement in diagnostic sensitivity and exactness in the differential diagnosis in regards to histological and cytological material. Recently, the authors group used a high level of throughput technology to the classification of new markers that could help in telling the difference between malignant mesothelioma from cancer in the peritoneum and ovaries, closely related histogenesis found in tumors and antigenic profile. In addition to the improved medical devices obtainable for cancer of the serosa diagnosis, understanding the biology of mesothelioma has accumulate lately.

Any Port in a Political Storm

Monday, March 16th, 2009

If there is one thing most of us can agree on it is that terrorists are a patient lot. They took about eight years to complete the job at the World Trade Center and that was during a period of passive security. In light of this, someone out therepossibly a despondent Katrina survivor, maybe a young Iraqi man who has just lost his family to an errant American missile, possibly a disillusioned teen clawing a life in some urban slum, maybe a zealot Muslim enraged by the infidels populating western-friendly Dubaiis aligning with Al Qaeda or with some new loosely networked group that is hell bent on delivering a nuclear or biochemical punch to America. After all, delivering such a blow is the ultimate statement, the greatest strike, the instant celebrity any Bin Laden wannabe lives to accomplish. And they have nothing but time and rage on their side.

We also might agree that they are resilient by their numbers. For every hundred who meet dead ends, run out of funding, slip up or miraculously overcome their anger, a few survive to snake along towards the objective. They independently find training camps, develop connections, obtain funding, purposely seek out jobs that might position them two years, five years, or ten years out in roles and responsibilities where they are in place to be future agents to a grander plan. In a way they are like a virus that constantly mutates to survive the latest vaccine. If terror influenza can’t break out this season, it will transform to break out the next season or the season following.

Now we find ourselves confronted with a dilemma. Once again the Bush inner circle secretly negotiated a business transaction, this time with Dubai, the second largest emirate among the federation of emirates comprising the United Arab Emirates, to own a limited number of piers within a limited number of ports. And when the deal was revealed by that pesky liberal press, as if a starting gun sounded, Washington’s finest made a mad rush to jump into their constituency fox holes, tongues drawn and flailing wildly into the dark public domain. Democrats were dizzy seizing an opportunity to look strong on security. Republicans were franticly separating from the drag the President has become. Talking points ran the gamut from racism to another Bush family pocket lining project. It was crazy; conservatives sounding like liberals and progressives sounding like neo-cons.

Personally, I found some of the positioning amusing, some boring and as usual, all of it based on few facts. Regardless, I was reminded of one golden rule of government: the distance of a politician’s vision is directly proportional to the length of their term. And that plays a huge role in our continued weakness in national security which translates into a great advantage for our enemies. Our leadership and decision makers are constrained by their election campaigns; our enemies are constrained only by their imagination and persistence.

Anyway, given all the political and media noise, I kept coming back to one simple question: why would we knowingly set up a scenario in which there is an opportunity for exploitation by terrorists?

There are many steps in the importing process of loading, shipping and unloading foreign cargo at our ports. It seems to me this deal with Dubai clearly places the process’s final steps at some very strategic ports under the potential control of someone who might have bad objectives in mind. It is as simple as that. With everything else we need to worry about in that process, why needlessly add another layer of concern that will certainly drain already limited resources? Plug the drain by eliminating the opportunity.

And I’m sorry if Dubai doesn’t like the second guessing at this late date. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be helped. They’ll have to get over it, which reminds me of another little oddity I just have to comment on. You know, for a President who constantly reminded us during his last election that ‘if elected President, Senator Kerry would seek the approval of France for foreign policy’, I find it ironic that in President Bush’s rush to support the deal he reasoned that we needed to consider how the Middle East would feel if we canceled this deal; that the only explanation for opposition to this deal must be racism.

Well I strongly oppose this deal. It should never have emerged from the clandestine meetings held in the White House backrooms by the administration faithful. It is a short-sighted economic promise that just might profit a far-sighted terrorist pledge. If that is racist, so be it. But I would argue it is merely common sense.

Victims of Child Support

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

“Similar to Medieval Inquisitions, judges have
been given the authority, in secret
proceedings… to investigate, prosecute, and
sentence men without any legal counsel”

The Victims

Extorting monies from one group and discriminatingly and disproportionately
distributing them to another does not constitute a legitimate solution. In the past,
whenever proof has been requested to support their claims of success – they
have been unable to comply. At best, they throw us a few bones, token
statistics with no confirmation (numbers most definitely can be used to lie).

In my particular case, I look at my innocent young daughter with such remorse
for the precarious situation I find both myself and, therefore her, condemned to
under current dictate. And of my beautiful wife, I can only apologize for my
mistake. The mistake I made was during a brief period of emotional decline
between my wife and I. “For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 3:23. In a brief relationship, a woman deceived me regarding her
fertility – not a first, I’m sure. And now, the State, with great pride, rewards her
deception by taking what my daughter has come to know as “her home” away”.
I can only feel contempt for this barbaric tyranny and a need to seek a legal
solution. This deceptive woman has chosen to keep the child and, given her
past, condemned that child to a life similar to her own. Despite formal and
substantiated reports of neglect and abuse, the State sees fit to ignore these
reports, condemn the child, and take the path of inaction. It’s as if the State is
purposefully breeding its future source of Federal funds, grants, and quota
incentives. There are so many qualified adoptive parent/s just waiting for an
opportunity to provide this child with a better chance in life.

Money from Child
Support has not provided this luxury of status nor will it ever. Our website will
include more examples in greater detail of “poor” State judgment.
In a recent Seattle Post report, a man was shot to death by police officers at
the Federal courthouse in Seattle. Though the man clearly went about fighting
his battle the wrong way, his actions are evidence as to the futility men feel.
After the incident, a local radio station stated that, “they were amazed at the
number of calls from area men who felt they had no voice and how they felt
there was nothing they could do”. In the day after his violent death, many non-
custodial parents felt his attempts over the past fifteen years for child support
reform where heroic. The Commissioner of the aforementioned States Division
of Child Support was quoted as “being proud of the strategies and tactics his
agency used” and that ultimately provoked this man to such extreme measures.
Under existing dictate, no regard in setting support orders is given to a man’s
existing debt. Regard is given however to the reality that he will most likely be
forced to declare bankruptcy due to the unrealistic financial burden and that he
will loose everything. To ensure their take, our greedy politicians, like vultures
hovering over a rotting corpse, have ensured, through passage of law, that
child support orders will survive bankruptcy. Unbelievable!! No regard is given
to the effects on his existing family or his existing children. They don’t care,
they don’t even ask!! The horrific result of these judgments is unconscionable.
Under any other circumstances, the emotional distress caused would result in
financial damage rewards.

And finally, what agency exists to protect my
daughter from these vultures dressed in shirt, tie, and/or robe? “If we say that
we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us.” 1 John 1:8.
Laws are of men and clearly can and do change, evident by the current fears
expressed by feminist groups regarding the future composition of our Supreme
Court. May justice once again prevail.

Immigration – Heated Problem

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Immigration in the US is a heated topic as of late. The problem is with illegal immigrants from Mexico. Citizens are upset that illegals are taking jobs, not paying taxes, but at the same time taking advantage of government programs.

citizens including legal aliens do not want illegals to not have to pay their dues. However, many speculate that economic damage by deporting illegals would be massive. Also how would the government execute a plan that would deport millions of people at once.

The solution will not be simple. The government has not made any solid moves because of the touchyness of the subject. President Bush will address the nation on this issue on Monday. Just talks of deportation or any action other than amensty has sparked protest marches in major cities across the US. In one particular march, immigrants were proudly waving Mexican flags. That makes me upset. If they want to stay they should be proud to be here and not bragging about where they’re from.

A solution should start at the border. Better border patrol means fewer illegals. Some citizens are taking this up themselves due to a lack of a response from Washington.

What to do with illegals already in the country? That’s difficult. Deportation is not plausible.

Some sort of worker program is needed. Requirement to pay back taxes, and set them up to get on track to become legal citizens.

One thing is for certain. This issue can no longer be pushed to the back burner.

EU Shows Morality

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

In response to the Murdering organization Hamas winning last week’s Palestinian election, the European Union (EU) demanded that Hamas recognize Israel (CNN).
ItsTheRightWay.com has been very critical of European countries like France and Germany for their support of terrorism toward Israel. We applaud the Eu’s position in regards to Hamas.

Hamas has slaughtered hundreds of innocent babies and children over the years. The fact that Palestinians elected an organization that calls for the destruction of Israel, speaks volumes of the morality of the Palestinian public.

How can Israel be expected to negotiate with baby killers and a group that calls on Israel’s destruction? Obviously the EU doesn’t think diplomacy is possible under these circumstances. The EU’s position is powerful. The EU has been a big supporter of the Palestinian hope for an independent nation. In the past, the EU has turned a blind eye toward Hamas’s killing of babies, because it believed in the peace process.

Now there’s uncertainty that peace can be achieved. The international community is skeptical that a terrorist organization like Hamas is willing to lead the Palestinians toward peace with their Israeli neighbor.

I believe that the EU is now starting to find out what the Palestinian public is all about. It’s about the destruction of Israel. The fact that Hamas won a huge majority in last week’s election, shows the free world that maybe the Palestinians are driven by hatred and don’t really want peace.

We salute the EU for sending a message to the murderers. We don’t think the EU went far enough. The United States has suspended sending funds to the Palestinians and has called on other nations to do the same.

The EU may follow suit in the near future if Hamas doesn’t recognize Israel. So now the ball is in Hamas’s court. They will either sink or swim. If they continue with their barbaric actions the international community will line up against them.

Hamas is not a fringe organization anymore and this means that it’s not free to fire missiles at Israel. The EU now expects Hamas to lead the Palestinians with legitimacy and diplomacy.
We’re not sure if Hamas has the will to represent the Palestinian people properly. Electing Hamas may have been an error in judgment by the Palestinian public.
It could have set back their dream for an independent nation.

Unfortunately the Palestinian people will have to live with their choice of government. The Palestinian people believe that Hamas will improve their economic position but unless Hamas deals with Israel in a diplomatic fashion, that will never happen.

In fact their economic position may worsen. Palestinians may find themselves isolated from the international community. We’re not sure what will happen but one thing is certain, it’s do or die time for Hamas.

Anglo-Israelism and the Flesh

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Recently a friend insisted that I read a book by Steven M.Collins, titled The “Lost” Ten Tribes of Israel…Found! This book tries to convince people that the “Lost” tribes of Israel after being uprooted by the Assyrians, started colonies all over the world and then ultimately migrated to Britain and then to America. The book attempts to prove in 439 pages what has been known as British- or Anglo-Israelism. The book was originally written in 1992 and was revised in 1995 and is gaining influence in some “patriot” circles. Some people who hold this theory are racists, following from their fleshly or carnal understanding of the outworking of God’s covenant in history exclusively along racial lines. A major thesis of the book is that the Jews (Judah) and Israelites are two separate and distinct peoples and kingdoms who must never be confused. Mr. Collins says, “…the Jews ceased to be part of the kingdom named Israel” (23). The author goes on to say
that “the term ‘Israel’ does not apply to Jews from the time of the divided kingdom forward” (23). Is this true? This is not a comprehensive review of Collins’ book. There are numerous problems in this book, some of which are dealt with below.

What are Collins’ qualifications? The author has a B.S. in Public and Personnel Management. In my opinion, Collins has a serious lack of training in the area of Biblical languages and the various theological disciplines such as systematic theology. These faults may account for many of the errors in his book.

On page vii under acknowledgments Collins refers to Dr. Barry Fell, founder and president of the Epigraphic Society, and a Dr. Charles Dorothy, an assistant professor of Biblical Studies at Faith Lutheran Seminary in Tacoma, WA. Collins cites Dr. Fell 103 times in his book. The author makes it clear in his acknowledgments that Dr. Fell does not agree with the conclusions set forth in his book. This is a significant admission. I believe that Collins is overly dependent upon Dr. Fell. Dr. Fell sees a number of examples of Old World peoples having traveled to the New World and then engaging in various forms of commerce. The evidence cited from Dr. Fell by Collins does not speak directly to the issue at hand, namely, that America is the alleged descendant of the ten lost tribes. Even if Dr. Fell’s examples are historically accurate it does not establish what Collins argues for. It simply does not follow that if Dr. Fell is correct then Collins’ arguments are proven. This type of fallacy is known as a non-sequitur. There can be any number of explanations of these facts other than what Collins has argued for. The evidence Dr. Fell sees has not driven him to accept Collins’ arguments as true. The problem with such extensive citations from Dr. Fell’s work is that laymen are susceptible to the fallacy of thinking because A might be true then B necessarily follows.

Dr. Dorothy studied ancient languages at Fuller Theological Seminary. The author also informs the reader that the linguistic information and conclusions of the book are his own and not Dr. Dorothy’s. Dr. Dorothy simply checked to see if the transliterations were correct.

The most serious problem with the author’s approach is that he starts with a preconceived notion and then begins accepting and rejecting material as it suits his case. This is clearly seen when he refers to Scripture. The Scriptures do not appear to be at all primary in his research. He cites them as proof texts to confirm what he is trying to prove. Collins says, “This book will also examine the life of Jesus Christ in light of new perspectives on world politics during his lifetime” (introduction xi). Clearly, the author is using a flawed hermeneutic in his approach to Scripture. Today, many so-called prophecy experts use the newspaper to interpret the Bible. Collins’ approach is fundamentally the same. He alerts his readers to watch for his new book on prophecy. He announces that he will interpret “a cryptic prophecy of Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:37)…” (434). He will do this utilizing material found in books by Eric Von Daniken in Chariots of the Gods, and In Search of Ancient Gods.

Collins is not competent to handle the ancient languages that he refers to in the book. His attempted connection between the English word “British” and the two Hebrew words for covenant (BRT) and man (ISH) are completely unconvincing (392). Trying to get “Saxon” from Isaac is another incredible stretch (385). Dr. Leonard Coppes, who was involved with the Old Testament translation committee for the New King James Bible, had this to say during a Bible study, “there are very few Hebrew words that have come into English. Coincidence of sounds does not mean there is any type of substantive connection between the two languages. English and Hebrew are two completely different language families.”1 It is well known that English has been influenced extensively by Greek and Latin. If Collins’ theory is correct there should be literally thousands of examples of Hebrew words in our language. The idea that the alleged “Lost” tribes somehow completely forgot Hebrew and virtually all traces of Hebrew vanished from their language is linguistically nonsense. In addition, a huge Israelite empire in the New World would have left unmistakable evidence.

There are many top rated scholars who would not agree with the author’s belief that there have been discoveries of Semitic writing in America. One example cited by Collins is the Bat Creek stone from Tennessee in 1889 (291). The late Dr. William Fox Albright, from Johns Hopkins University, and Frank Cross, a professor of Semitic languages at Harvard University, are two scholars in particular who have disputed this alleged example of Semitic writing in America (Tanner 134). It is also interesting to note that the Mormons have invested heavily in the same type of theories. One of the theories of the Book Of Mormon is that the early inhabitants of America, the Indians, were in reality Jews from Jerusalem who spoke Hebrew. Mormons have made such fantastic claims over the years concerning the Book Of Mormon that the Smithsonian Institute has issued a press release in effect saying, “Smithsonian archeologists see no direct connection between the archeology of the New World and the subject matter of the book.”2 The scholarly world as a whole remains unconvinced at this point concerning theories such as those held by Collins and the Mormons. Someone may say that “the scholarly world is intentionally supressing the truth concerning Collins’ theories.” If so, this should be proven rather than asserted.

Collins says, “It has been clearly shown that the ‘Phoenician empire’ was, in fact, the Israelite empire” (96). In my opinion, this statement was not proven, and this theory is nothing more than wild speculation. It is ironic that the author who insists that the Jews and Israelites are two different peoples and kingdoms and should never be confused, promotes a theory that the Phoenicians and Israelite empires are one and the same. Collins’ theory that the Jews and Israelites are always to be viewed as separate peoples is nothing more than “special pleading” on his part.

The author also believes the Scythians were part of the lost tribes of Israel (200). Are the Scythians really some of the lost tribes of Israel? In the book Foes from the Northern Frontier Invading Hordes from the Russian Steppes by noted scholar Edwin M. Yamauchi, we learn that the Scythians drank the blood of the first enemy killed in battle. This is a violation of the Levitical law (Lev. 17:10-12). The Scythians drank from the skulls of their victims. They also pacticed human sacrifice (Yamauchi 111). If these were really Israelites, they had certainly degenerated far from the true Biblical religion.

Arguments from silence significantly discredit Collins’ book. Collins argues that there are eighteen years of the life of Christ not recorded in the Bible (280-316). In essence, the author is saying the Bible is incomplete in dealing with the life of Christ. Where the Bible is silent, Collins boldly presses on hoping to convince the reader of his theories which if accepted serve to create doubt in the Biblical record. He then proceeds to give the reader page after page, thirty-six in all, of his own speculation. The missing years theory is a glaring example of an argument from silence. According to the author, Jesus had to travel to the countries where the ten “lost” tribes had migrated (285). There is no Biblical evidence that Jesus did anything other than live with Joseph and Mary and remain in subjection to them (Luke 2:51). Did Jesus travel around the world visiting the various Israelite colonies? Did Jesus get his Roman citizenship as the author thinks (306)? Did he go to the moon, or Mars? Arguments based upon silence can lead anywhere.

The author believes that in order for Jesus to gain knowledge of a geographical location and the inhabitants, he needed to go there (299). This is bizarre, and makes me wonder if Collins is an Arian in his Christology. The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is God and possesses all the attributes of deity. One of these attributes is omniscience.

The author tries to latch upon anything to prove his theories. He leads the reader into thinking that the Quetzalcoatl legend is proof of Jesus in America (286). Quetzalcoatl was not Jesus in America. Quetzalcoatl was the Aztec god of the air. To try and connect Jesus with a pagan deity is blasphemous.

Collins’ understanding of Mark 6:1-6 is an example of a false interpretation of Scripture in an attempt to support the bizarre missing years theory (282). Remember Luke 2:51 regarding Jesus being subject to Joseph and Mary. Collins is forced to reject the plain meaning of the text, namely, that Jesus was a carpenter. This was supposedly a mistake on the part of the people of Nazareth. The author does not believe that the people of Nazareth recognized Jesus since he had supposedly been away for so long. Mark 6:4 makes it clear that the people did not believe that Jesus was sent from God. The basis of their sinful rejection was that they knew him. They said, “He is out of his mind” (Mark 3:21). Obviously, they knew him well enough to make this false judgement. How could he be a prophet? There was no doubt in their minds that he was a carpenter, the son of Joseph and Mary and nothing more. They even knew his brothers and sisters. This was Jesus’ hometown. There is no textual reason to disbelieve the Biblical facts concerning his brothers and sisters and his trade.

The author cites Matt. 3:13-16 as proof that Jesus was baptized by immersion (294). This illustrates how Collins reads into the text his preconceived notions of what the Bible is saying. The verse says that, “Then Jesus, when He had been baptized came up immediately from [apo] the water.” This allegedly proves Jesus was immersed. When Phillip baptized the Ethiopian they both “came up out of [ek] the water”(Acts 8:39). Were they both baptized? When Jesus came up from the water he could have been standing in knee deep water and then came up from the Jordan onto the riverbank. Coming up from or out of the water does not prove the mode of baptism.

The author makes use of more novel interpretations of the Bible. One passage is John 10:16 about the “other sheep” (292). This verse should be connected with passages such as Isaiah 42:6; 56:6-8; 60:3-11; 66:18-21. This passage in John has always been understood as the fulfillment of the passages in Isaiah. This is the salvation of the Gentiles. The author uses this verse as a proof text to promote his theory that Jesus came to early America during the alleged missing years. Mormons also appeal to this verse for proof of Jesus coming to America. This is clearly an aberrational interpretation of Scripture.

The passage, Matt. 10:5,6, dealing with the lost sheep of the house of Israel, is another example where Collins mis-interprets Scripture. The author believes that the ten tribes of Israel were in different foreign lands at this time. In Matt. 10:5,6, Jesus instructs his twelve disciples to go only “to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Collins believes that the disciples were to obey these instructions after Jesus died, and actually go to these different locations (314). Note that in verse five Jesus sent the twelve disciples out at this time, not after his crucifixion. It should also be noted that the parallel passage in Mark 6:7,12 says, “And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two… So they went out and preached….” Where did Jesus send the twelve disciples? To Britian? To America? They were to go to the cities of Israel (Matt. 10:23).

Does the author’s insistence that the Jews and Israel be considered different nations hold up? Consider Zacharias’ prophecy. “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people” (Luke 1:68). Speaking of John, Luke goes on to say, “So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel” (Luke 1:80). What did the “devout” man Simeon say concerning Jesus? “A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people
Israel… this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel…” (Luke 2:32,34). Simeon said this in Jerusalem. In addition, Matt. 2:21 says Joseph and Mary traveled with Jesus somewhere. Where did Joseph and Mary bring Jesus? What land? The answer is the land of Israel. In contrast, John 18:35 makes clear that Jesus was delivered to Pilate by his “own nation,” the Jewish nation. The reader can see by now that Collins’ distinction between Israel and the Jewish nation is artificial and erroneous.

Ezekiel 37:15-28 prophesies the reunification of Israel and Judah. This passage completely refutes Collins’ Anglo-Israelite theory. The children of Israel and Judah will be brought back from among the heathen, where God had driven them. The culmination of the prophecy would be that, “David my servant shall be king over them, and they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgements, and observe My statutes, and do them… and My servant David shall be their prince for ever” (Ezekiel 37:24,25). The fulfillment of this prophecy is in Christ. David was a type of Christ. The prophecy says that God will bring back the scattered tribes from among the heathen. They shall be one nation, with one king. In 458 B.C., King Artaxerxes said, “I issue a decree that all those of the people of Israel, and the priests and Levites in my realm, who volunteer to go up to Jerusalem, may go with you” (Ezra 7:13). In response to this decree the Scripture says, “Some of the children of Israel, the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim, came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes” (Ezra 7:7).
It is also recorded that, “the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, in sackcloth, and with dust on their heads. Then those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners…” (Nehemiah 9:1,2). God’s faithful remnant returned with Ezra and Nehemiah to Jerusalem in a number of mass migrations back to Israel. The center of religious worship for the Old Testament people of God was the temple in Jerusalem. God’s people were obligated to bring offerings and sacrifice before the LORD in Jerusalem. Those who refused to return with Ezra and Nehemiah were unfaithful to the covenant

Did Israel return with Ezra and Nehemiah like the Scripture says or not? Was Ezekiel’s prophecy fulfilled? The two nations had become one according to the testimony of Scripture. Collins in essence argues that this prophecy was not fulfilled. Ezekiel 37:21,22 deals unequivocally with the reunification of the two nations. This prophecy was clearly fulfilled. Consequently, Collins’ “lost” tribe theory collapses. After the return of the captives under Ezra and Nehemiah we never hear again about the separate Northern and Southern kingdoms. If members of the alleged “Lost” tribes never returned to Palestine, what type of questions could be raised about their covenantal faithfulness? Collins does not say.

Consider the following examples of the usage of Jew and Israel in the New Testament. Here, Paul describes the Israelites as his brothers. And yet, Paul said, “I am a Jew from Tarsus” (Acts 21:39). Paul also said, “…for I am also an Israelite…” (Rom. 11:3). Was Paul a Jew or Israelite? He was both. Paul was a descendant of the tribe of Benjamin (Phil. 3:5). The tribe of Benjamin was part of the Southern kingdom with Judah (1 Kings 12:21). Furthermore, Jesus came through the tribe of Judah, which would make Him a Jew. And yet, the Scriptures say, “Who are Israelites… and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came…” (Rom. 9:4,5).

Collins believes people “who rediscover their Israelite ‘roots’ have every right to a sense of wholesome pride…” (376). Is this pride always wholesome? Can this pride ever result in racism, or racial superiority of one group over another? What about Black, Indian, Hispanic, or Asian Christians? It seems that they are left out of this “wholesome pride” theory. Collins himself believes that the alleged “Lost” tribes of Israel in the modern world must be located among the “White” or “Caucasian” nations (378). Some individuals who hold to Anglo-Israelism are racists. By his refusal to accept the fulfilled prophecy of Ezekiel, Collins has created an irreconcilable tension in his theology. This tension is exhibited by his repeated disclaimers, distancing himself from those who may jump to racist conclusions. He acknowledges that, “Jesus presented himself as an equal-opportunity Savior for all nations and ethnic groups” (376). He expressly repudiates racism and distances himself from those who promote racial superiority of the modern descendants of the alleged “Lost” tribes of Israel (375). However, he seems to be keenly aware that some individuals may jump to racist conclusions after accepting the thesis of his book.

The Christian Identity movement which is a subset of Anglo-Israelism clearly holds to racist views. This is because in the hands of carnal men a fleshly understanding of the covenant exclusively along racial lines can become a pretext for racial superiority, and is used as a justification for racism. Pride in race has gotten out of hand at times in history. Hitler’s Aryan race experiment is one example. When a society embraces theories that foster racial superiority, what happens to minorities during economic hard times? Some forms of Anglo-Israelism, most notably the adherents of Christian Identity, understand the outworking of the covenant to be along racial lines, and this accounts for their racism.

In closing, we should remember that the gospel properly understood breaks down
racial walls or barriers. In Eph. 2:12,13 we learn that the Gentiles are grafted into the Commonwealth of Israel. The Gentiles are now part of the church. They are also part of Israel. “And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God” (Gal. 6:16). The Commonwealth of Israel in the New Covenant is the church made up of Jews and Gentiles. In Rom. 2:28,29 we learn that the regenerate person who has been circumcised in his heart is a Jew. The author’s refusal to accept the fact that God reunited the Northern and Southern kingdoms in fulfillment of prophecy is an attack upon redemptive historical progress, and is therefore, non-Biblical and false. Collins’ theory of Christ’s purported world-wide travels undermines the authority of Scripture by calling into question its completeness. In this reviewer’s opinion, the author’s view of history, argued for in this book, is nothing more than imaginary. There is an inherent tendency within Anglo-Israelism to glory in the flesh. The Scriptures teach that we should glory only in the Lord Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul makes it abundantly clear, “There is no Jew nor Greek…. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Gal. 3:28,29).

How the Poor Were Lost

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

When the poor were the majority.

The poor in developed countries like the USA and UK are now a minority, though up to maybe the 1950’s or 1960’s they had been a majority.

While the poor were a majority their main problems were simply economic poverty and economic exploitation. Government bodies manned by the upper and middle classes understood this sufficiently to be able to handle the poor with some appropriateness, if not always entirely to the poor’s liking. The votes of the poor majority were basically sought with a policy mix of small economic titbits and nationalistic policies.

The poor becoming a minority.

In the USA by 1950, and the UK by 1960, growing economic prosperity saw the numbers of the poor begin to fall until soon they became a minority. This was helped by more enlightened government policy, and was good for the many that then escaped poverty. Unfortunately the remaining poor as a minority were to face seriously increased problems.

There were two main reasons why the modern minority poor in advanced countries faced increasing problems. The first was that the poor soon had more complex, though supposedly helpful, welfare systems applying to them and giving them new problems – and also as a minority they now also hit new minority social exclusion problems. The second main reason the modern poor in advanced countries faced increasing problems was that they became less seen and less understood by the governing upper and middle classes, so their governing became wildly inappropriate and plain wrong.

How affluent governments lost their poor.

When the poor in developed countries became a minority, democratic political parties began to see their votes as unnecessary, though the poor are a socially significant minority whose misgovernment can seriously undermine society.

Majority middle-class issues became prioritised, for example huge anti-tobacco-smoking resources being applied by government and employer bodies but much less on drunkenness, drug-taking or weapon-carrying – pushing many from cigarettes to these. Socially tobacco is a small undesirable but the available alternatives for the poor are really much worse. And some of the health problems of smoking may be due to inhaling cigarette lighter flints rather than inhaling tobacco.

All government, charity, employer and other bodies being now run by a middle-class having no real understanding of modern poor minority problems has led to many policies affecting the poor becoming totally inappropriate. And developed countries prioritising middle-class issues and worsening the position of their poor minority are in effect doing a Nero and ‘fiddling while Rome burns’, but their governments basically lost the poor.

Re-finding the poor.

In developed countries now, those producing policies are educated professionals with little or no experience of the poor today, and they may commonly have correct general theories but often be missing the correct practical detail needed for correct modern policy making for today’s minority poor. They urgently need to find and involve the tiny handful of street-wise professionals who somehow do happen to have substantial real experience of today’s poor themselves – but as yet they are totally unaware that this is needed.

Or if modern affluent middle-class government cannot find a way to better govern their poor and other minorities, then perhaps modern democratic government will demand less middle-class officials. Maybe a percentage of politicians should not be elected, but instead be randomly selected from elector lists ?

Misuse of Statistics in Media – Political Motivation

Monday, November 10th, 2008

The preparation for this short Project revealed the growing concern on how a statistical survey may be or is being misused to support the vested interest of the funding agencies.

To find a political article a search was conducted online and the choice was made to select the article Poll suggest Saskatchewan NDP continues to lead that was published in the Canadian Internet Network on Monday, September 06, 1999. This is a pre-election article that discusses the leading position of the NDP party of the other parties sitting the support of the statistical survey.

Abuses of statistics can be done in many ways. It can be a bad sample, a small sample or the way the pictographs are drawn. It also can have misleading graphs or loaded questions that are worded in a way to elicit a desired response. There is an old saying that if you do not get a positive answer to your question, change the way you pose the question… Statistics can also be misused by the inclusion in a statement of a precise number. Indeed, our truth is composed of our understanding, but we must see events in their relationships. Yet there exist more ways of abusing the science of Statistics by deliberately distorting the results and by providing the partial picture not presenting the complete story.

The case in our chosen article is very similar to the last way of misuse of Statistics. Namely the article does not reveal any meaningful insights and the fact is that later the commending lead of the NDP party did not materialize at all at the election time. The article suggests that the survey is one-sided and therefore cannot reveal the truth of the reality. No matter the NDP later did not win the elections.

The conclusion is that the search for the truth, as stated in eMaxHealth.com is not a number or a fixed reality. People think that the statistical studies are a search to find the truth. The reality is that the agencies that fund these studies participate in manipulating the supposed resulting truth. What can be done to fix this? Perhaps the society has to reset its understanding of what the truth may be, or more specifically maybe there must be an independent verifying agency that would confirm the validity of the statistical findings…
