How to Set up a Home Gym with Various Sporting Goods

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

The warmer summer months are approaching and thus just about all over the country, individuals are toning up! With merely a good set of weights, a home treadmill, and an exercise bicycle, any person’s property or office can be turned into a training gymnasium, and with fairly little expense and issues. There are many issues that can keep people from proceeding to the fitness center; children, spouses, money, work and home duties; the list goes on and on. Since it is generally hard to find a moment to hide away to the fitness center, it can be very useful to have one’s own work out center in the comfort and convenience of their own home. This does not have to be an extremely hard and costly procedure to establish, either. This article covers various key types of equipment which are required for an effective home work out center, valuable for either boosting muscle, shedding weight, or toning up; and they consist of weights, treadmill machines, and exercise bikes. Dumbbells are possibly the most versatile and beneficial single part of equipment for toning and working out just about all of the different muscle groups in people’s body. They are broadly obtainable in a number of different weight quantities, and quite a few different varieties are out there from which one can choose. The best decision will count on the personal objective for having the home gymnasium in the first place. If the man or woman be most engaged in shedding weight, or perhaps firming up, he or she could decide on a regular set of dumbbells ranging from a weight of somewhere between three and twenty pounds. For those whose end intention is to enhance their muscle mass and general toughness, though, they might be better served in getting bars possessing spin locks and individual weight plates. In this way, as one’s strength grows over a period of time, he or she is able to boost the weight one plate at a time. Treadmill machines are a second really beneficial and effective piece of home gymnasium equipment. Their prices have come down considerably in the last couple of years, too, which makes them far more attractive to the budget mindful home gym builder. When one is looking at the purchase of a treadmill machine, he or she should check for one which includes a walking belt that operates smoothly. The majority of treadmills often available these days come standard with odometers, timers, and heart monitoring attachments, as well. A critical safety feature which most users will want to have is an emergency stop button. Exercise bikes are a final home fitness center product which is helpful to have. They offer the user most of the many benefits inherent in cardiovascular workouts, while sitting at home. With the exercise bicycle, the user will have to make a decision if he or she prefers an upright, or a recumbent, bi-cycle. Upright bikes look like usual bikes that you see on sidewalks everywhere. Recumbent bicycles place the bike’s pedals to the user’s front. Some of the features which exercise bikes can include are heart rate monitors, as well as odometers. Making Things Happen

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

When things don’t go as planned in life and there is that feeling of desperation and disappointment, we tend to feel like we are in a dark room and feel helpless. In situations like these we tend to forget that there is now way out, but like in every room we must remember that there is always a door where you can simply turn that knob and exit that place and have a new beginning. It is true, sometimes we make decisions that we wish we never had made, but if you look at the most successful people in life, they have a similar story. Their lives have never been perfect and have hit bottom, just like you.

Some even have overcome health problems like extreme back pain, but they had a true belief that they could work things out and make the situation improve and actually surpass any other success that they have ever had. So take the step to getting organized, set your goals in place and really begin to tackle them one by one, don’t simply wish for stuff but actually take action. It is the greatest minds that earth has ever encountered that have done the same, is not easy but not as hard as you think.

In Self Hypnotic State You Are in Full Control

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

One question that arises is: “If I’m under hypnosis, how can I give myself suggestions?” During the hypnotic state, it must be remembered, the subject is always aware of what is going on. You hear what is said, follow directions and terminate the state when told to do so. In the self-hypnotic state, you are in full control. Therefore, you can think, reason, act, criticize, suggest or do whatever you desire. You can audibly give yourself suggestions, or you can mentally give yourself suggestions. In either case, you do not rouse from the hypnotic state until you give yourself specific suggestions to do so.
Many feel if they audibly give themselves suggestions, they will “awaken.” In hypno-analysis, the subject answers questions during the hypnotic state. Having the subject talk does not terminate the state. You can keep the talkative subject under hypnosis as long as you want. Furthermore, the subject can be sitting erect with his eyes open and still be under hypnosis. Carrying this further, the subject may not even be aware that he is under hypnosis. He can be given a cue not to remember when the therapist makes a certain motion or says a certain word that he will go back into the hypnotic state but still keep his eyes open. Only an experienced hypnotist could detect the change.
Another frequent question is: “How do I arouse myself from the self-hypnotic state?” You merely say to yourself that upon counting to five you will open your eyes and wake up feeling fine. Many times the subject falls asleep while giving himself posthypnotic suggestions. This is not undesirable since the suggestions will spill over into the subconscious mind as he goes from consciousness to unconsciousness.Conversational hypnosis can help, both with hetero-hypnosis and self-hypnosis.

My Hair Loss Journey

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

My hair loss treatment journey commenced the day I started to notice my receding hair line and my bald spot growing bigger. I would always find ways to comb my hair in a certain way to hide my hair loss. I discovered myself wearing more caps on the weekends as I went out with my wife, friends or family. Walking in to work every morning without my hat was a tough experience. You change the way you think when you are experiencing hair loss. It is so true that you never know what you have until you lose it. That can be accurate about your hair loss.

Having suffered from hair loss, I started to treasure every strand of hair that I had left. It was as if with each strand of hair I lost, so was a small percentage of my self-confidence gone as well. A acquaintance of mine had been experiencing the same problem as me. I noticed lately that he seemed so much more relaxed and it appears as though his hair was growing back. I didn’t wanted to bring it up but after a while I decided to ask. It was then that he told me about Advanced Hair Studio. With just a few treatments my friend Josh had not only regained his hair, but his self-confidence as well. After speaking to Josh and understanding what Advanced Hair has done for him, I took the courage to make an appointment for a free consultation.

At first, I was a little wary. But effects were apparent within a few weeks. Not only on my scalp, but in my attitude. I began to lose the hats on the weekends and I quickly started to feel better about myself. My wife has also pointed out a change in my day to day attitude as well. It is amazing how just a few visits to the Advanced Hair Studio had begun to change my life as a whole. I always felt as if the first thing people observed about me was my bald spot. Now, I am not scared to look people in the eyes again as I have my full set of hair back.

Advance Hair Studio has not only given me back my hair little by little, but a big part of my confidence as well. So, if anyone is suffering from hair loss I highly recommend them. Don’t let baldness take your self-assurance away.

A Coaching Workshop Is Essential for All Managers

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

When you hear the word “coaching,” what comes to mind? Are you one who correlates this phrase with sports and competition or do you think of the workplace environment? If you choose the former, you are not alone.

This time, think about the duties and roles of a manager and compare the two terms “coaching” and “managing.” The two titles are recognized as different roles in very different fields of work. However, their functions and responsibilities are similar in their respective titles. Look at this comparison.

Managers in organizations

*monitors daily, weekly, or even monthly work progress of each employee

*implements and delegates tasks and duties to employees

*influences and affects employee workloads

Coaches in sports

*prepares players by conducting practices, workouts, and focuses on boosting performance

*executes game plans and develops strategies to help players win

*Often makes more formal decisions whereas players make more informal and on the spot decisions

As you can see, both managers and sport coaches carry out similar roles and responsibilities in their respective duties. For this purpose, instead of “managing,” we need to be “coaching” employees in our daily interactions and work environment. Much like the sports environment, it has the same end goal in mind. That goal is to improve performance and drive winning results.

A company has many roles and responsibilities. Its responsibility is not only to shareholders, customers, community, but also to employees and managers. A great company much like a sports team needs to continuously improve the skills of the managers in order to develop and coach employees into a capacity that will drive results. To improve and develop skills, organizations often turn to a coaching workshop to assist managers and employees. Below are two sample topics that might be addressed in a Coaching program.

Attitude & Morale- How do your employees perceive and feel about their working environment? Is there a sense of loyalty and dedication to the company? With workers getting consumed with every day duties, they can sometimes get tired of the repetitive routines they face everyday. Manager who are observant of these routines can set aside some break time to reward employees for their work contributions. Ideas such as weekly or monthly employee luncheons and one on one development during the work hour will rejuvenate employees to work hard, develop others, and be invested in the organization.

Productivity- Meeting deadlines, sales number, production quotas, and doing quality work are important goals employees need to accomplish while on the job. However, when it comes to the end result, managers are ultimately responsible for their success or failure. Through effective coaching, managers improve performance by addressing accountability issues, building positive relationships, and confronting excuses. Workers are much more inclined to follow managers who use positive reinforcement and take sincere interest in the personal development of their people. If managers can learn that coaching is a leadership skill, work productivity will increase and the company will benefit.

Coaching doesn’t just apply to sports, it can be applied to management and employees at all levels in an organization. A Coaching workshop provide essential processes, tools, and skills, for managers as they try to continually run an organization and assist their employees. If you observe that your organization is encountering problems among managers and workers, identify an organization that will help your company. You will not only relieve unnecessary problems, you will move toward a positive work environment.

Go Joe!

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

People come to coaching for different reasons and often what they discover is wrapped in a dazzling package.

Joe came as a client wanting a breakthrough in his business. As a business broker, and sole proprietor, he needed a jumpstart to help him create more income. He also needed a support system to keep his enthusiasm alive. He was confused and depressed about all the leads that he had gotten, opening doors, only to have the doors shut in his face. He was tired of working alone and wanted to add a partner to share his vision. With firm determination and quiet resolve, he worked diligently to expand his perception of how to build a business.

He had many resources at his fingertips. People that he realized were there to help him in his quest for a new insight into his work. As his coach, it was important to learn more about how his business worked and what would be beneficial to support him in realizing his dream.

Reviewing his strategies for networking and also for publicizing his business were structures that he wanted to put in place. We discovered that he did not have a viable web site and he worked hard to set this up. Joe was a very talented writer and had never put this creative talent to work. He got inspired and wrote some great articles about what he had done with successful clients and posted them on his web site. With a new outlook, he started to see fresh possibilities to build his business.

Next Joe started gathering a list of people he knew as possible partners and created a very clever idea”dinner with Joe.” He started having social dinners with colleagues to get the word out about what he did. Joe also was ferreting out potential partners who could join him in his business. And the dinners were costly.

His money was running out and he was getting discouraged. He continued working on what he knew about the business and building on his strengths of networking and speaking. Within six months he had built his client list, authored three articles and had several viable leads. Joe also found a potential partner that he could work with to build his vision. He was a willing participant to create a game plan for a successful coaching partnership and he tapped into his creative genius. Joe learned that he could break through what had been holding him back from going for the gold.

Luck of the Irish?

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

March 17 is a day of Leprechauns, four leaf clovers, green beer and luck. Even if you are not Irish, it is a day to get caught up in the fun of it. Unfortunately, many Real Estate Professionals rely on this thing called luck to help them achieve their goals.

In January I wrote an article called 13 Things I learned in 13.1 Miles. The response I received from that article was extraordinary. My friends and family were most impressed by the distance I ran, others were thankful for the analogies with three points really resonating with a lot of people: the Importance of Visualizing, Becoming a Student of the Game and Finding Your Own “Dog Beach.”

I think the reason why these three kept coming up in responses to my article was that these three things are the keys to accomplishing anything in life. In order to reach a goal, any goal, I don’t care if it is running a marathon, making a six or seven figure income, having a wonderful relationship, or raising great kids, they all require going through the same process.

I know it seems that sometimes people just “get lucky.” It seems as if business just comes their way, they have a great family and lack of money never seems to be an issue for them. I coach Real Estate Professionals everyday on breaking the cycle of relying on luck and implementing a system of creating their own destinies.

I know, that if my clients…
1. Set clear goals and are able to visualize them
2. Become a student of the game by acquiring knowledge and setting up a plan to reach those goals
3. Have accountability with the small steps needed to work the plan,

…they will be able to accomplish far more than they ever imagined possible.

I believe it is important to plan and not to rely on a great life coming to you. Click here to get a Report called 14 Things to Creating a Business Plan You Can Use. If you would like more help in crating the life you want, you may want to look into my Five Year Business and Life Planning Guide.

May you all have a fun day on March 17, eating corned beef on rye, toasting beer in an Irish Pub to the wonderful business and life you are creating for yourself! Cheers!

The Power of Thought

Friday, August 29th, 2008

It is time to teach you a bit about the greatest power a human possesses: that is the power of thought. You think your own reality!

When you think about something, thought waves escape from your brain. These waves are similar to those of a transmitter and these waves travel through space and cause a reaction on the universe.

Scientists have already begun to experiment with the power of thought, I read on another web site that an experiment with crystals was made, and it was proven that human thought affected the growth of those crystals.

You must know that just as we have a mind, the entire Universe also has one. The human mind and the cosmic mind exist. The earth is condensed mind. The entire Universe is condensed mind. The waves of the universal mind saturate the infinite space. The very fabric of existence is thought.

The first thing that an architect who designs a house does is to create the project in thought, then he/she projects it on paper as a drawing, lastly the house crystallizes. Thus, everything, every building first existed in the mind. Nothing can exist in the physical or material world in which we live without first having existed in the world of the mind.

It is becoming necessary to for all people to learn how to concentrate and project thoughts with precision. To learn to concentrate, that is to fix your attention on a single thing. When you fix your attention on a task, when you concentrate on that task, you can be certain that your brain emits powerful thought waves that will effect the very substance of the universe.

It is important for you to truly concentrate. To shut out other thoughts that are capable of distracting you. You should learn how to concentrate your mind. You believe that you want to succeed in life and have health, money and love. Most people do. Reflect a little, learn how to handle the force of thought. When you learn how to handle the power of thought you can then proceed to success with certainty. Just as the arrow guided by the hand of the expert archer reaches its target.

Remember that the world is a product of thought. You are what you are because of the thoughts you have had. You can totally change yourself by making use of the power of thought. Each person projects into the world of the cosmic mind what he/she is and what he or she wants to be. The projection of the mind crystallizes the physical and then we have a life that is rich or miserable, happy or wretched. Everything depends on the type of mental projections that we have crystallized.

If the thoughts have been done with sufficient concentration, followed up with actions, the result will be success. Try it today, think of only one thing that you desire, let no other thoughts interfere, and you will see your thoughts turned into reality.

Stick With the Winners

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Here is an interesting quotation from Stephen Walsh.

“We’re building up and tearing down, in everything we do. Are you on the construction gang or the wrecking crew?

Think about this statement and how it applies to you. Some have a difficult time in their lives as they have self defeating behaviors that continue to keep themselves stuck. As children, if we were raised in unhealthy families, we often learned ways of coping that worked while we were children. Eventually these coping strategies lose their power and affect as adults. Then, we often find ourselves in a state of crisis.

Are you helping or hindering yourself?

Imagine yourself with a beautiful bouquet of balloons walking into a room filled with many people. You want to share these balloons with others. Do you walk into a room filled with people holding hatpin’s? Or, do you walk into the room filled with smiling and friendly people?

Think about it! Sometimes professional help is needed to wade through the problems and crisis areas. There are many qualified counselors out there in every state. So take a chance.

Karlynn Baker is originally from California but moved to Arizona to receive her Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with a speciality in addictions. She owns The Employee Assistance Program of Tucson, Inc. helping contracted employees with mental health concerns. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor for the state of Arizona, and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She also shares a positive message every morning on KSAZ 580 AM. She enjoys life with her husband, David, her three daughters, and adorable grandsons.

Chasing The What’s Next

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Are you an adrenaline junkie who is looking for balance? I call people who achieve success, but yet also have a balance in life – Activators.

However, a lot of times, as Activators, we become so entrenched in the cycle of doing, fearful that we revert back to our habits as Procrastinators. To keep our momentum going, we’re chasing the “what’s next”, losing sight of the fact that a true Activator understands how she/he must recharge her/his batteries. So, what are the telltale signs of someone’s who chases the “what’s next”?
Highly focused on to-do’s and has lost sight of what motivates and is important to her/him.

Can’t sit still for more than fifteen minutes without doing anything (yes, this includes watching TV).

Consistently wakes up during the night and processes internally which tasks need to be completed the next day, next week, etc.

Often doesn’t take the time to enjoy the rewards of her/his accomplishments.

Doesn’t necessary ever obtain any internal satisfaction from successes or having met a goal.

In working with clients, I have found the following steps extremely helpful in helping Activators not turn into Adrenaline Junkies:

1. Keep an active reminder of what motivates you internally and what is important to you.

Examples:

- Life’s Mission Statement (for more info go to: http://www.mmclifestylecoaching.com).

- Picture of your family with what this image represents to you on back of the picture.

- Write down a poem, prayer or quote that you feel speaks to you and review once a day.

2. Carve out daily reflection time and prayer time, if you’re spiritually-motivated.

What do I hear you saying? “I don’t have the time. Or: My mind keeps on chattering. Or: It just feels weird.” Believe me – all bad excuses… You’ll feel better once you integrate this into your daily habits. Here’s how to start:

- Start off with five minutes in the morning for both prayer and quiet reflection time. Just sit there and allow your thoughts to flow. This will improve as you continue from day-to-day… It’s just like exercise, you’ll feel better for doing it!

3. Stop and reward yourself at least once a month for having met your goals.

This is an important step often forgotten when achieving life’s successes. Please take the time every month to review how much progress you’ve made. Most people typically look at all the things they feel they haven’t completed. However, instead look at all the things you have achieved, acknowledge yourself and set up time for a reward. The reward doesn’t necessarily have to be material. How about just praising yourself and letting the good feeling carry forward in your interaction with others? Or just setting aside “Me Time” and not doing absolutely anything? Another fun one is to pull out the old photo albums and enjoy your memories! I bet you can come up with a good list on your own, too…

4. Tell yourself that the present IS perfect.

Adrenaline junkies are typically so focused on the future versus appreciating what’s currently in their lives. This often creates a vicious cycle, which is hard to break out of. So, when you feel like your current achievements aren’t enough, please take the time to reflect on how blessed you are at the moment. It’s also important to remember that you can’t change other people or situations. You can control only who you are. If you become so focused on the “What’s Next” and what you want for the future, you’ll never receive joy and contentment from what is right in front of you.

So,leap to Walking with Grace in the Present versus Chasing The What’s Next.
