Luck of the Irish?

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

March 17 is a day of Leprechauns, four leaf clovers, green beer and luck. Even if you are not Irish, it is a day to get caught up in the fun of it. Unfortunately, many Real Estate Professionals rely on this thing called luck to help them achieve their goals.

In January I wrote an article called 13 Things I learned in 13.1 Miles. The response I received from that article was extraordinary. My friends and family were most impressed by the distance I ran, others were thankful for the analogies with three points really resonating with a lot of people: the Importance of Visualizing, Becoming a Student of the Game and Finding Your Own “Dog Beach.”

I think the reason why these three kept coming up in responses to my article was that these three things are the keys to accomplishing anything in life. In order to reach a goal, any goal, I don’t care if it is running a marathon, making a six or seven figure income, having a wonderful relationship, or raising great kids, they all require going through the same process.

I know it seems that sometimes people just “get lucky.” It seems as if business just comes their way, they have a great family and lack of money never seems to be an issue for them. I coach Real Estate Professionals everyday on breaking the cycle of relying on luck and implementing a system of creating their own destinies.

I know, that if my clients…
1. Set clear goals and are able to visualize them
2. Become a student of the game by acquiring knowledge and setting up a plan to reach those goals
3. Have accountability with the small steps needed to work the plan,

…they will be able to accomplish far more than they ever imagined possible.

I believe it is important to plan and not to rely on a great life coming to you. Click here to get a Report called 14 Things to Creating a Business Plan You Can Use. If you would like more help in crating the life you want, you may want to look into my Five Year Business and Life Planning Guide.

May you all have a fun day on March 17, eating corned beef on rye, toasting beer in an Irish Pub to the wonderful business and life you are creating for yourself! Cheers!

The Power of Thought

Friday, August 29th, 2008

It is time to teach you a bit about the greatest power a human possesses: that is the power of thought. You think your own reality!

When you think about something, thought waves escape from your brain. These waves are similar to those of a transmitter and these waves travel through space and cause a reaction on the universe.

Scientists have already begun to experiment with the power of thought, I read on another web site that an experiment with crystals was made, and it was proven that human thought affected the growth of those crystals.

You must know that just as we have a mind, the entire Universe also has one. The human mind and the cosmic mind exist. The earth is condensed mind. The entire Universe is condensed mind. The waves of the universal mind saturate the infinite space. The very fabric of existence is thought.

The first thing that an architect who designs a house does is to create the project in thought, then he/she projects it on paper as a drawing, lastly the house crystallizes. Thus, everything, every building first existed in the mind. Nothing can exist in the physical or material world in which we live without first having existed in the world of the mind.

It is becoming necessary to for all people to learn how to concentrate and project thoughts with precision. To learn to concentrate, that is to fix your attention on a single thing. When you fix your attention on a task, when you concentrate on that task, you can be certain that your brain emits powerful thought waves that will effect the very substance of the universe.

It is important for you to truly concentrate. To shut out other thoughts that are capable of distracting you. You should learn how to concentrate your mind. You believe that you want to succeed in life and have health, money and love. Most people do. Reflect a little, learn how to handle the force of thought. When you learn how to handle the power of thought you can then proceed to success with certainty. Just as the arrow guided by the hand of the expert archer reaches its target.

Remember that the world is a product of thought. You are what you are because of the thoughts you have had. You can totally change yourself by making use of the power of thought. Each person projects into the world of the cosmic mind what he/she is and what he or she wants to be. The projection of the mind crystallizes the physical and then we have a life that is rich or miserable, happy or wretched. Everything depends on the type of mental projections that we have crystallized.

If the thoughts have been done with sufficient concentration, followed up with actions, the result will be success. Try it today, think of only one thing that you desire, let no other thoughts interfere, and you will see your thoughts turned into reality.

Stick With the Winners

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Here is an interesting quotation from Stephen Walsh.

“We’re building up and tearing down, in everything we do. Are you on the construction gang or the wrecking crew?

Think about this statement and how it applies to you. Some have a difficult time in their lives as they have self defeating behaviors that continue to keep themselves stuck. As children, if we were raised in unhealthy families, we often learned ways of coping that worked while we were children. Eventually these coping strategies lose their power and affect as adults. Then, we often find ourselves in a state of crisis.

Are you helping or hindering yourself?

Imagine yourself with a beautiful bouquet of balloons walking into a room filled with many people. You want to share these balloons with others. Do you walk into a room filled with people holding hatpin’s? Or, do you walk into the room filled with smiling and friendly people?

Think about it! Sometimes professional help is needed to wade through the problems and crisis areas. There are many qualified counselors out there in every state. So take a chance.

Karlynn Baker is originally from California but moved to Arizona to receive her Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with a speciality in addictions. She owns The Employee Assistance Program of Tucson, Inc. helping contracted employees with mental health concerns. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor for the state of Arizona, and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She also shares a positive message every morning on KSAZ 580 AM. She enjoys life with her husband, David, her three daughters, and adorable grandsons.

Chasing The What’s Next

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Are you an adrenaline junkie who is looking for balance? I call people who achieve success, but yet also have a balance in life – Activators.

However, a lot of times, as Activators, we become so entrenched in the cycle of doing, fearful that we revert back to our habits as Procrastinators. To keep our momentum going, we’re chasing the “what’s next”, losing sight of the fact that a true Activator understands how she/he must recharge her/his batteries. So, what are the telltale signs of someone’s who chases the “what’s next”?
Highly focused on to-do’s and has lost sight of what motivates and is important to her/him.

Can’t sit still for more than fifteen minutes without doing anything (yes, this includes watching TV).

Consistently wakes up during the night and processes internally which tasks need to be completed the next day, next week, etc.

Often doesn’t take the time to enjoy the rewards of her/his accomplishments.

Doesn’t necessary ever obtain any internal satisfaction from successes or having met a goal.

In working with clients, I have found the following steps extremely helpful in helping Activators not turn into Adrenaline Junkies:

1. Keep an active reminder of what motivates you internally and what is important to you.

Examples:

- Life’s Mission Statement (for more info go to: http://www.mmclifestylecoaching.com).

- Picture of your family with what this image represents to you on back of the picture.

- Write down a poem, prayer or quote that you feel speaks to you and review once a day.

2. Carve out daily reflection time and prayer time, if you’re spiritually-motivated.

What do I hear you saying? “I don’t have the time. Or: My mind keeps on chattering. Or: It just feels weird.” Believe me – all bad excuses… You’ll feel better once you integrate this into your daily habits. Here’s how to start:

- Start off with five minutes in the morning for both prayer and quiet reflection time. Just sit there and allow your thoughts to flow. This will improve as you continue from day-to-day… It’s just like exercise, you’ll feel better for doing it!

3. Stop and reward yourself at least once a month for having met your goals.

This is an important step often forgotten when achieving life’s successes. Please take the time every month to review how much progress you’ve made. Most people typically look at all the things they feel they haven’t completed. However, instead look at all the things you have achieved, acknowledge yourself and set up time for a reward. The reward doesn’t necessarily have to be material. How about just praising yourself and letting the good feeling carry forward in your interaction with others? Or just setting aside “Me Time” and not doing absolutely anything? Another fun one is to pull out the old photo albums and enjoy your memories! I bet you can come up with a good list on your own, too…

4. Tell yourself that the present IS perfect.

Adrenaline junkies are typically so focused on the future versus appreciating what’s currently in their lives. This often creates a vicious cycle, which is hard to break out of. So, when you feel like your current achievements aren’t enough, please take the time to reflect on how blessed you are at the moment. It’s also important to remember that you can’t change other people or situations. You can control only who you are. If you become so focused on the “What’s Next” and what you want for the future, you’ll never receive joy and contentment from what is right in front of you.

So,leap to Walking with Grace in the Present versus Chasing The What’s Next.

Creating Reality – Discovering the Magician Within

Friday, July 25th, 2008

We all create our own reality each and every day, whether we are aware of the power that we possess or not. We all have a built-in mechanism that runs twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three-hundred-sixty-five days a year, non-stop.

Each and every one of us is a powerful Magician. It’s just that somewhere along the line, someone forgot to tell us just how powerful we really were. We have not been trained in how to best use our natural magical abilities, therefore we go through life, creating in one moment, and then destroying our creation in the next.

No wonder it is so difficult for some people to get ahead in life.

How many times have you had an idea or a thought about what you wanted to do or have, but that little nagging voice in the back of your head told you that you weren’t worthy, that you couldn’t afford it, or that it was never going to happen?

Once you understand the keys to creating your own reality, and how you have been destroying your own creations, you can begin to channel your power in an efficient and powerful way, and begin to create the life that you truly desire.

You see, it is by thinking that we create our realities. What we think we become. What we think about we draw into our lives. It is through working with the power of thought that we work our magic.

And it’s easy. Even a child can do it. When you were a child you thought innocently that all things were possible. You thought that you lived in a magical world. And the truth is, you did!

But when you got older some adult that you trusted and believed in told you that your ideas were only make-believe, that they had no basis in reality.

They really were trying to help you. That is what they believed because an adult that they had trusted and loved had told them the same thing when they were a child.

That is where you became cut off from your inner magician. It was at that point that you lost your power.

Unfortunately, when we don’t know how to operate this marvelous reality-creating mechanism that we all naturally possess, we often end up shooting ourselves in the proverbial foot. We set ourselves up for failure. We self-sabotage.

What if I could show you a way that you could learn to operate this powerful inner mechanism so that you could create the reality that you desire for your life? What if I could show you the pitfalls to avoid that destroy your own creations before they have had time to bring you the things in life that you desire to create?

If you can dream, then you can create. If you can create, you can learn to feed your dreams and creations rather than destroy them or allow them to wither on the vine.

If you truly desire to reconnect with your own, powerful inner magician, and want to begin creating the life you truly desire then you must immediately get your hands on this free newsletter, Simple Magic – Creating The Life You Want. It will change your life forever.

Now, if you could have the life that you’ve always dreamed of, what would it be like?

Positive Thinking and Your Creative Mind – 7 Steps to Success

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

You have a bright idea hidden somewhere in the back of your mind that you just can’t wait to test out. The question is, do you really want to bring it out into the light? What could motivate you to churn your creative, inspiring juices to their utmost flavor?

Did you know that it always helps to set a time limit to your personal goals? Set yourself up so you can accomplish the most tasks in record time. For example, mowing the lawn in an hour before the big game on TV. A correct and positive attitude in whatever you do will make things easier, and even enjoyable.

It’s simple. If you begin to allow yourself a bit of positive thinking then you will begin to realize things that you never thought possible. Thinking big is indeed the American Way and that what made our country prosperous. You can follow other great Americans who tapped into their creative mind and began to thing big..

Discover some tips to make it through your first week of possibility thinking even if you’re just sitting in your favorite couch. Your mind is constantly at work for you. Tap into it’s great resource while doing everyday activities.

1. Act. You must take passionate action towards living your life by design. Talk is cheap. Action = deposits in the bank of a passionately authentic future. My mother (probably quoting someone else) always said, “Action speaks louder than words”. Without action, passion is void.

Dreams become reality when you simply start by tinkering with your mind, then with your hands. And if the idea weakens or falters you can always go back to it later until you finish it. Thomas Edison and his Dream Team had to go back to the idea of a light bulb and recalculate it over 1,000 times before the first working light bulb begin to light the world.

2. Love. Commit to yourself. Then commit to those you love to powerfully create a life you can love. Instead of reacting, commit to creating from your heart and soul, out of love rather than fear. The American Dream will always be there, but a dream will still be a dream without motion. Be amazed as the transformation begins.

3. Live. Embrace moments and opportunities. Recognize and embrace the thought that each moment is perfect regardless of its outcome. Every time you hit on something that may appear too extreme why not give it a shot anyway. See if it will work. You may be surprised with the results. If you are not then decide to use that moment to learn from it and make the appropriate shift. Learning and growing from mistakes and failures is a part of living.

4. Be grateful. Dwell completely in a place of gratitude. Learn to utilize what you have in your hands and make use of it in the most constructive way. Necessity is the mother of invention. Have you ever been stuck without something you needed and had to make do with something else? (MacGyver, from the famous tv show, was famous for that!) How grateful were you that you had the means to solve your situation? Slipping into neediness will become less of a habit when you repeatedly shift towards gratitude and away from poverty consciousness.

5. Be Passionate. Use a Passion Formula of Recognize/Reevaluate/Restore in place of the Shoulda/Woulda/Coulda whirlwind. The former is based on increased knowledge and abundance while the latter focuses on scarcity and lack. As you face people or tasks that may seem harder than scaling the summit of the Himalayas, allow yourself to realize that the task is just as important as giving out orders to your subordinates. You would rather be richly passionate!

6. Laugh. Keep humor at the forefront of thought, laughing at and with yourself whenever possible. You may find yourself quite entertaining when you loosen up! I have yet to see a comedian ever go hungry even though his jokes are as ‘old as great-grandma’. Life has too much to offer to allow yourself to mope around in self pity. Humor is very attractive, very passionate: life-giving.

7. Discover Your Purpose. Believe that you are the architect of your destiny. Realizing how you wish to be remembered when you pass from this life is a truly driving force. Your purpose for being can be a seemingly simple as being a great parent to as elaborate as discovering miraculous cures.

When you have a strong purpose no one can take your passionate future from you except for you! Truly, as long as there’s still breath in your body, there is no end to how much you can accomplish in a lifetime. Discovering and following your purpose will enable you to enjoy your work. Celebrate in the discovery that acting on your creative mind’s thoughts is fulfilling your purpose. Watch everything flow into place with perfect, passionate precision.

Activate your positive thinking. Stretch your imagination. Think bigger than you feel comfortable. Act on your thoughts. The number one tip here is action. You want to start practicing these steps.

Think about this: It is unfortunate that so many people still do not use a computer because it appears too complicated to begin using. Or maybe they just keep putting it off till a more convenient time. These are just a couple of limitations one can set up for themselves. Limitations and failure to act on ideas and opportunities leave many as a dim bulb in a dark corner.

Alert! You are not doomed to darkness. You are interested in living a life of purpose and love. The wonderful, creative idea in you is about to be released. You are interested in doing this because you are reading this article. Fortunately if you truly desire something, the will to attain it will open your creative mind to find a way.

Now you need only to begin to act on your desire to create. Act now! Make your path to creativity and follow your purpose. Take your first step today with a positive attitude.

Are You Making a Coaching Income or a Burger Flipping Income?

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Choice, the Magazine of Professional Coaching, Vol. 3 Issue 1 cover reads “Why Don’t Coaches Make More Money?” The article cites that coaches make less than $20,000 a year offering free complimentary sessions in a struggle to gain clients and most are not cut out to be business owners.

Why don’t coaches make more money?

As the owner of a successful and growing coaching business I can clearly see the answer to this question. Coaches do not make more money for the following reasons:

1. They lack the marketing expertise to grow a business

2. They bill “by the hour” instead of developing programs and service packages for their clientele,

3. They do not coach the whole person, instead focusing only on their niche area or

4. They haven’t identified a niche!

Coaching is rated by “Entrepreneur” magazine as the one of largest at home based growing business; its income potential is growing toward explosion. So why don’t coaches make more money?

Many coaches come from other helping professions, therapists, social workers as well as from corporate positions. Many helping professionals rely on the referrals of managed care to fill their practice and openly express concern when becoming a coach as to how they will get clients. Many coaches are not familiar with the systems and processes involved in running a business, having the right product for the right audience and knowing how to engage clients rapidly in their business.

Coaching businesses do not come with a marketing funnel of clients. A funnel needs to be created through the use of direct and internet marketing. By applying the systems and strategies used by successful entrepreneurs, coaches can rapidly accelerate their incomes.

As a coach I know we provide more to our clients than the time we spend with them. I see clients in my Nashua NH office and I also coach worldwide. Outside of session time I think about my clients, respond to their email and receive brief phone calls between sessions.

Coaches often bill their clients by the month, only pointing to the pricing based on time in session. Instead, build an entire series of programs to serve your clients, offering several pricing options. A program includes coaching, email support, review of information outside of session, brief phone calls, assessments, evaluations, worksheets, workbooks, journals, and numerous resources.

You do it anyway, now build a program and get paid for it. Coach your clients on on every aspect of their lives and as a result most clients will sign up for a six month initial contract. Offer more than coaching, offer a program packed with resources such as e-zines, teleclasses, webinars, e-courses, individual and group coaching and access to forums. So why don’t coaches make more money?

They have the skills and the knowledge. They simply need the tools. Want to make coaching income history for the next magazine report? Become a skilled business owner and market your business effectively. For FREE tips to improve your marketing visit www.TipsToMarketingMastery.com

The Cure for Procrastination

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Have you ever noticed that the longer you look at something you should be doing, the more difficult it seems to appear? That the longer you put off something you should do, the more difficult it is to get started?
A good deal of frustration and unhappiness could be avoided if people would just do what they know they should do.

The great newspaper editor Arthur Brisbane once wrote, “Don’t exaggerate your own importance, your own size, or your own miseries. You are an ant in a human anthill. Be a working ant not a ridiculous insect pitying yourself.” Strong language, maybe, but there’s a lot of sense in it.

A person carrying a heavy weight is all right as long as he keeps moving. The minute he stops, puts the weight on the ground, and sits down to rest, the weight seems to become heavier; the distance to be traveled, greater; and the work, just that much more unpleasant.

Sometimes it must seem to everyone that things have piled up so high that there’s just no way of digging out. But there is. Pick the thing that’s most important to do, and simply begin doing it. Just by digging in, you’ll feel better, and you’ll find that it’s not nearly as bad as you thought it would be. Keep at it, and before long, that pile of things to do that seemed so overwhelming is behind you finished.

What overwhelms us is not the work itself. It’s thinking how hard it’s going to be. It’s seeing it get larger every day. It’s putting if off and hoping that somehow, through some miracle, it will disappear.

The Chinese have a saying that a journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step. And that step accomplishes two things. First, it automatically shortens the distance we still have to travel, and, second, and just as important, it makes us feel better, more hopeful it strengthens our faith. If a person will just keep putting one foot in front of the other, he will be taken into new and exciting places, see new and interesting things, and think thoughts that never would have come to him if he’d remained at the starting point. Then the journey is finished. He wonders how or why he could ever have sat so long and worried and stewed about the time and trouble it would involve to do what he knew he should do.

If you’ll think back, you’ll remember that you’ve always been happiest, most contented, after having finished a difficult project or faced up to a responsibility you were worried about. It’s never as bad as you think it’s going to be, and the joy that will come with its accomplishment makes it more than worthwhile.

Work never killed anyone. It’s worry that does the damage. And the worry would disappear if we’d just settle down and do the work.

As Calvin Coolidge put it, “All growth depends upon activity. There is no development physically or intellectually without effort, and effort means work. Work is not a curse; it is the prerogative of intelligence, the only means to manhood, and the measure of civilization.”

What? Are You Afraid of Ghosts?

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

I guess you could relate well on that didn’t you? Honestly, I don’t. I have no fear of ghosts. Okay, I admit it, when I was little.

No, this article is not about ghosts or the fear of ghosts but the fear of — failure. Let me share to you my struggle in finding (Nemo?) no!

Okay, seriously now. (Actually I haven’t seen the movie.)

It was not an easy experience for me to find a woman to marry.

Not too long ago, I was a thriving employee who thinks more highly that he ought to toward himself. At that time, I was earning twice than most that I considered myself rather successful. But, but… I have a big problem. I’m loosing hair and I’m loosing it fast!

I have my eyes set on the newspaper and TV commercials waiting for breakthroughs on the cure of hair loss. I’m growing desperate everyday that I bought every kind of shampoo that claim to make a difference. The truth is, man, I would be categorically bald in couple of years. I wanted to cry. I hug my dog and I poured out my tragedy over him. That’s what dogs are for.

But I’m the kind of guy that doesn’t easily give up. Definitely, if I can’t have my hair, then I must have my wife!

I left my promising job and went back to the province. I courted the first fair young lady I met and got her after two weeks of courtship. Ha ha! Then lost her after two weeks (sob). She left me for a full-haired man.

I have learned the truth that a loyal dog is better than a fair young lady who leaves you at the drop of a hat.

Then one day, I met my wife.

We got two kids now. My younger boy had his first birthday last 23rd of October.

Here’s what I learned:

Firstly, when stumbling at failure, stand up and wipe your eyes dry. You have to stay alert for the next opportunity that comes your way.

Secondly, failure can be bitter but don’t let your fear of failure hinder you from trying again. Failure, in reality, is a stepping stone either towards or away from your goal. Decide what it is to you.

Thirdly, victory is certain if you try harder and smarter.

Lastly, dogs can be a good thing!

Face it, you can’t have it all. Stop blaming yourself or somebody else — that will not make any difference. Study what caused you to fail and learn from it.

In closing, let me remind you that God is on your side and that something better in on the way!

Proverbs 19:14 “Parents can provide their sons with an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the Lord can give an understanding wife.” (NLT)
